How does this go again?

So here I am with a relatively small dnd group. Played a little back in high school and now trying to make time with everyone's schedule is a pain.
I'm a family man now with a wife and a son. I sometimes play wow and I miss playing dnd. So here I am to play all the forum games and ask dnd questions. Maybe somebody could explain how you guys play dnd on the forums. Anything anyone wants to know about me?

What's your favourite colour? Also, PbP takes a bit of getting used to, the best way is probably to just look at some of the threads, and remember the DM rolls all the dice.

Ah!

That makes things pretty easy. My favorite color is olive green. So do you make meeting times or just do like an action a day. I guess I'll just go check it out, heh.

The good part of playing by post is that you don't have to be together. Generally things go in turns of sort, where the DM posts a large sweeping update, followed by the players posting reactions and leading into the next update. Non-combat posts generally are large things that cover a great deal of time (so it doesnt take six pages to get through a town) and combat posts tend to be short "I light my face on fire and headbutt the goblin" posts.

Edit: I should note, they're usually longer than what I described. You should find a good thread like CWWLLO for good examples.

Greetz and Well Met, Mark IV!

Hmm. . .what would we want to know about you. . .Is your username a Star Trek reference? Also, why do you want to be able to cast Fireball as essentially an at-will ability? I mean, I could really help you out with that if your quest is sincere . . .but it would entail a little contract, the eensy price of your soul, some bothersome side effects (not TOO bothersome for such a boon as this, mind), but y'know I'm here on vacation and I'd really rather not get involved with that right now. It's not you, it's not me, it's a question of timing. When I'm back "on the job," look me up and we'll make a deal, 'kay?

Oh, also-also, how'd ya find us in the first place? And also-also-also, what kind of games/genres/editions do you like to play?

Okay, 'nuff questions--just glad you stopped by! Welcome to your new digital home! I offer flowers and spiced mead. Tell your friends about us, we've got room for 'em! Be sure to check out our resident webcomics and vote for the Inn each day at the Home page. If you need help unpacking and settling in, or want the silver piece tour of the place, I'm just a PM away.

Whaaaaaat?!?!? No facelick?!?!

Don't get excited... I already hunted Mark down and gave him his facelickinz in another thread so, strange as it may sound, the fella gets somewhat of a reprieve here in his intro.

Did want to pop in and give you the ol' "Well met, howdyado, pleezdameetcha" bit, though, Mark. Always a pleasure to have new faces show up here at the Inn... especially when they stick around, y'know?

Well met!

Hey Mark!
Nice to have another Innmate to spend some time with!

Umm.... questions...hmmmm...

Have you considered doing a small group with your wife and son? I'm not sure how old he is, but there will come a point when getting him interested in D&D will come naturally with his imagination.

What do you consider a relatively small group? 2 players?

See you in the games, and maybe a campaign or two in the future. *winks*

I'll have some of that mead.

Actually, I want to be able to channel that spell. Not necessarily fireball. I looked it up in the Dmg and decided to just change cone of cold to kind of a dragons breath thing. But I have to add a duration to it.

Mark IV - Mark is my nickname and I'm the fourth generation with my name (my father, grandfather, etc.) Hah, but that is funny now that you mention it.

Let's see. I was looking up some help on how to play a new DnD character. I came across a forum in here and decided to look around afterward. I like the place, so I decided to stay.

I play 3- 3.5 edition DnD. We go between Faerûn and oriental adventures, but most of the time it's just the regular setting (never been sure what to call that).

I'll try to stick around. I mean, I'm always on the net.
Oh, my wife has played before, but now she's not interested. My son is only two, and terrible twos are not the time to get out the books and die. Heh. Although later I would enjoy playing with him and I'm sure he would too.

A samll group is a group where we feel inadequate. Three people in a party seems a little low to me, but the dnd usually finds a way to make it works. I've done parties as low as 2 people and it just doesn't seem like there's enough variety there. I enjoy working as a team. I don't think there's a point to just play for yourself (out of game atleast).

Thanks again for the warm welcome! I think I will stay for awhile and rest my feet.
