The Drow...

Avalon's eyes widened. "How long ago was it that he left this town?" She shook her head and silently cursed herself. The drow gave her the slip again. She stood and started to pace by the table. "You said to the east? Night is quickly approaching and I do not travel at night. I must find a place to stay over night and then set out in the morn..." She sat back down and started to drink her ale again.

Are you kidding; does that mean you're being a kid?

The halfling's comment about the drow made Jorak's head turn and stare at him in disbelief.

"Are you saying you actually saw a drow in town? And you talked to him?"

The man had said it in a way that implied it was the most normal thing in the world. From what Jorak had experienced, drow were vicious and malicious beings, who didn't talk to other races, deeming them irrelevant. He'd sooner think the drow would've cut out the halfling's tongue than strike up a conversation.

In Jorak's opinion, if you didn't have very urgent business with the drow, you avoided them as best you could. This time though, business seemed urgent.

"Miss." he said to the elven girl, as she sat down, "Avalon. I don't think you need a place to stay overnight. I think what you need is to get moving. Drow are sensitive to sunlight, and he will most likely travel by night. If you want to catch up with him I suggest you make sure he doesn't get too big of a head start on you."

He looked at her and smiled his warm, old men's smile.

"I'm coming with you. I'll be back in half an hour. Gotta take care of some things."

With that he stood up and started for the door. He changed his mind and looked up at her, short as he was.

"My name is Jorak, by the way, and I used to be an evil wizard."

Sounds like Adventure!

Aerick couldn't help but listen in on the conversation. An Elf hunting a Drow to avenge her fallen King and Queen, attempting to drive out a merciless army from her homeland, adventuring with an Old Wizard and a Halfling! Turning towards the group at the table, Aerick grinned.

"The old man is right about the Drow, best to follow him at night and catch him during the day. I hope you don't mind, but if you'd have me I would gladly join you on the noble quest. Nothing cheers my heart like restoring a families honour!"

With a hearty laugh the dwarf slid off his bar stool and held out a hand to the Elf. "My name is Aerick Ironhelm, I hope you don't mind having a dwarf help you out, but I can't be left out of something as grand as this." He stared up at the Elf with a large grin, hand still hanging in the air.

going

"Well Aerick," Jorak stated, "I think we would be very happy with your company. Now, I don't believe that standing around here will help us catch up with the Drow, so let's get going."

(OOC: This is just a short nothing to get the attention of our host, hopefully.)

A dark entrance

The Blind Pig.

It was a strange name for a Inn, yet it offered warmth, a hot meal and a cold drink, something that she craved badly.

The door to the Blind pig opened with a burst of wind that swirled through the common area stirring up a cloud of dust. When the dust cleared the door closed and a dark robed figure stood inside the doorway. The figure was hooded and the face behind the hood was shrouded in darkness. The robe covered the figure from head to toe and other than it’s height, just under 6 feet, not much more could be seen.

The figure stood there for a few seconds as the hood turned to survey the room and it seemed to pause for a moment on the table that contained an elven woman, a Halfling and an old man. It seemed to be studying them for a moment and then moved towards the table, but then veered away and past the table towards the bar.

As the figure passed, a faint chill could be felt in the air; it was as if the some of the warmth was sucked out of the air in the robed figures wake. If anyone stopped to listen, they would hear the figure order from the barkeep as they took a seat in a stool at the bar.

“Your best wine and a plate of whatever food you that is hot and fresh,” the voice was definitely feminine, with a melodic, seductive, and almost hypnotic quality that caused the barkeep to stumble over his words before he said, “uhh….. Coming right up… ma’am”

The figure reached up a hand and drew back the hood and unleashed a mass of Raven Black ringlets that ended at her shoulders. She slowly turned as she waited for her meal and drink and scanned the room again revealing a pale face framing dark coal-like eyes. As they pass again over the table with the strange trio of elf, dwarf and old human; a faint curl of blood red lips is the only sign she shows acknowledging their existence before she turns back to the glass of wine that is placed before her by the barkeep.

(OOC: This will do as a beginning. )

soon

No sooner did he utter the words which urged the others to hurry up, or a new face entered the gradual vacancy of the common room. There was something about this new person that got Jorak's attention. The old man was not sure how to take her entrance. She arrived late, at a time where most people wouldn't be traveling anymore, and she was definitely not from around. He would've remembered her. After all, the town wasn't very big.

Eyeing her from under his thick, white brows he spoke to the others softly.

"Say, does that drow travel alone?"

New Faces

Aerick lowered his hand to the hilt of his axe. "From what I know of Drow, they only travel with others of their kind. Sometimes with others they've, convinced to help them." Pulling a chair up to the table Aerick looked at the wizard, "Shall I order us another round while we keep on eye on this one or should we get to stalking our Drow friend?"

Dinner

Taking up her glass of wine, the dark robed female moved over to a table near the wall. It was a strange move as this one had two townsfolk sitting at it while there were other tables which were empty and available. She stopped before the table and looked down at the two men who sat there; they looked up at her with a curious expression.

She said something to the men in a low voice which didn’t carry to the other group of people in the Inn. The men’s eyes grew wide with a fearful look and they nodded and quickly got up and stumbling over themselves they hurried out of the Inn. The female chuckled slightly as she watched them flee the place; she took the chair with it’s back to the wall.

“Clear off this table now!” she said in a commanding voice, before she sipped her wine and watched the room waiting on her meal.

In less than a minute one of the barmaids came hurrying out of the kitchen with a plate loaded with food; venison, roasted potatoes, some type of greens, and a small loaf of bread. Sitting the plate down on the table, the girl looked at the dark woman who only glared back at her for a moment before the server quickly grabbed the tankards and things left by the previous occupants and then hurried back towards the kitchen looking glad to be out of the gaze of that woman.

The woman smiled slightly before turning her attention to the meal before her; she dug into the meal with the look of one who hadn’t eaten lately.

(Edited to correct a spelling error. I really should proof-read more carefully )

haha

Torrel had to chuckle a bit as the newcomer ordered the table cleared and might as well snarfed down the food. He spoke up "the old man is right, we had best be off as soon as we can, we are losing hours of the dark" thinking to himself "Drow, those bastards, they think they can get away from me, Shadow master of the brotherhood, they have got another thing coming." He laughed a bit, "After the newcomer finishes eating of course." He gave a odd smile which should have warded them off...if he intended it to, but this, yes, this time, it was friendly and well....silly. "Call me Thorn, it is close, I think, to my actual name."

a group

Jorak was starting to feel a bit uneasy. If they wanted to get the drow they should get moving. And the newcomer's arrival heightened the feeling even more, though not for the same reason.

Looking at the woman, and feeling her aura of aversion radiating from her, he was reminded of his own past. He would never openly admit it, but it brought back pleasant memories and fond feelings. Though he had sworn of his previous occupation, looking back on it made his heart warm. But the contrast between wanting to stay and desiring to go out and find the drow was something he couldn't tolerate any longer.

"We leave." He said, and there was something dark and final in his voice. Something not very senior citizen like. And with those two words he tipped his hat to the woman at the table and headed out the door.

(OOC: I just realized that my old post about Jorak returning to the Inn was deleted in the crash. For continuity's sake let's say he returned half an hour later and the conversation went from that point on. Ok with everybody? He's wearing a wide brimmed hat, a small backpack and a belt with many pouches and a chain on which dangles an old book. His quarterstaff looks more like a stick he picked up from the woods than an actual fighting weapon. )

A short interlude

“We Leave”
The woman looked up when she heard some outburst from the table with the group of people. A slim eyebrow raised and a faint smile graced her lips. She lifted her wine and sipped from it as she sat back in her seat and watched the old man head towards the door to the Inn.

She turned to look back at the table where the other members of the group sat; she apparently was interested in their reaction to his outburst.

Withdrawal

The Raven haired woman watched the strange goings on at the other table and finished with her meal and downed the last of the wine as if it had been awhile since her last good meal. The ranting of the group at the table were beginning to bore her; it seemed they were not going to actually do anything other than talk.

She had hoped to have a little fun here but with this group here she was reluctant to cause any ‘problems’. So when finished she rose from her table and moved gracefully towards the door. One of the waitresses started to remind her that she had not paid; as if reading her mind, the woman turned and locked eyes with the waitress and the woman’s words died upon her lips unspoken.

The dark woman smiled and then left the Inn; the door closing silently behind her. She strode across the yard outside and entered the woods. She paused a moment and glanced back towards the building she had just left.

“No joy here tonight fellas,” she spoke to someone, “lets see what entertainment awaits us elsewhere.”

As she moved off, shadowy figures could be seen among the trees moving to follow around her; the group moved off silently into the night.

(OOC: Removed this character incase I wish to use her elsewhere.)
