RPG Ambience - Bring your game to life with music and visuals

Just in time for Christmas, I have a present for all the innmates: RPG Ambience.

RPG Ambience is a media player that enables roleplayers to bring their sessions to life using sound and visuals. It can be used for creating complex audiovisual intro sequences or just for having quick access to background music during play. I've used variants of it in my games for years, and now I'm releasing a free, browser-based version for everybody's benefit.

I know a lot of you primarily roleplay online, but those of you who are interested in adding some ambience to your tabletop sessions should give it a try: http://rpg-ambience.com/.

If you have any feedback, I will be glad to receive it in this thread.

Merry Christmas!

Man,

I table top RP minimum once every two weeks, and this will/can add a ton of greatness. THank you so much!

Quick question, can I edit in voices so if I wanted an NPC to say stuff and I found a sound clip of it could I edit it on here?

Voices

Jozan: Yes; you can use any kind of sound file. The key here would be to uncheck the Loop checkbox so that the voice clip is only played once. Also, if you already have music playing and don't want to interrupt it, you can set Layer to Foreground and it will play on top of the music. You might also want to adjust the Volume of either the music or the voice clip.

Awesome

Oh man.... this is really cool. f I can get my group back together and start playing regularly again this is most certainly something I would have to give a try. I've always thought ambiance can be the difference between a good game and a great one.

.

Awesome, and everything is saved serverside? Just wondering since I share a network if my brother decided to use this, and I did too, since we use the same router would both things be saved to the same area or is it different per computer?

Saving

Jozan: Everything is saved only to the computer that you are using. It is possible, though a bit tedious, to transfer adventures between computers by copying a few files from your hard drive. I will try to put up the instructions for doing that within a few days.

Update: It turns out that doing so is really only practical in Google Chrome, so a reliable method for moving and sharing adventures will have to wait.

Gnome Stew

If you're looking for inspiration on how to use RPG Ambience in your own games, the recent article on Gnome Stew might be of interest.
