Olympus has Fallen... What did you think

Ok tonight I saw ‘Olympus has Fallen’ and I must say once the action started it was non-stop! This Movie is ‘Die Hard’ on steroids and Gerald Butler, though no Bruce Willis does a very good John McClane impression though he is named Mike Banning in the movie.

The premise, terrorists/crooks take over a building, though not a new one gets a new spin when said building becomes the White House. However the way the bad guys in this movie, North Korean terrorists, do so is awesome! But very, very scary in its scope, timing, originality and the sheer cold bloodiness involved.

As in Die Hard after the Dad Guys secure the White House all that stands between them is one surviving Secret Service Agent who of course is an ex Special Forces/Ranger. The best of the best against the worst of the worst and of course all hell breaks loose in a very Die Hard way.

Don’t get me wrong I loved the movie and though I had to pee so bad by the end I still could not get up for fear of missing anything. It’s that good of an action flick. Unlike the newest Die Hard, #5, this movie takes it’s time and did not feel as rushed as that one did. Sorry Bruce, but if I were to compare the two movies #5 and Olympus, Olympus has Fallen wins in my book hands down. Go see it it’s a good action movie for a change.

So you who see it feel free to post your thoughts here but please no spoilers.

Not bad... felt like propaganda

Thought movie was okay. There were some real cheesy moments that made me groan, and a couple of scenes that I thought where certain people in power did things that seemed so out of character it made it hard to believe.

Beyond that, though, I found myself thinking about how movies can be used as propoganda. With the "terrorists" in the film being "North Korean", I wondered how a movie like this might be used for political purposes (i.e. if you watch this film, will you feel more sympathetic towards foreign policies that are more "hardline" towards North Korea?).

The film gets a 3/5 stars from me. It was okay... but renting it would have likely been better.

BANG BANG

I loved the movie far more than Die Hard From Russia With Love ZOMG Don't Shoot At My Son. Sure, there was some extreme ridiculous aspects to it. Like his codes still working after 18 months off of POTUS detail. But overall, I can't get enough of Butler and enjoyed the thrill ride immensely.
