Question 2ed to 3.5
Curious... I was looking over some things looking for a savage/primitive class/template.
I know in 2ed there were the various savage kits... but I haven't really found any classes/templates in 3.5 that equate.
Obviously any character could be played as such... but does anyone know of a 3.5 class/template for savage warriors, wizards, etc?

As far as 'base classes' go...
...I'd say that your 'out of the box' barbarian would be the closest thing to a savage/primitive class. That's not to say that all barbarian PCs (or NPCs) are necessarily from savage/primitive races/tribes/clans/whathaveyou but, at its core, it's definitely conducive to a little tweaking that could help get you to where you want to be.

In 3.5, there is no template to my knowledge that exists giving something a "savage" subscript. Templates are usually for adding something to the race like half dragon, half celestial, etc etc. Now class wise I'm sure you can find something like that. Probably a Druid if you want some sort of divine class, barbarian for your melee, and for arcane, sorcerer. Lots of the "barbaric" races get their arcane magics from monsters with sorcerer levels as it naturally occurs in them and they just grow with these powers.

Barbarian
I was hoping to stay away from the barbarian... Because although they are (or can be) savage/primitive it is reasonable to have a more disciplined warrior from a savage society.
I know it isn't hard to adapt other classes to be savage, I just didn't know if there was an existing class/template suited to the task.

The Savage
I suppose the question is, what are the advantages of a savage warrior? I ask because a disciplined combatant is already just a fighter. If the savage only uses primitive weaponry there are supplements for it. I haven't taken a good look into the variants for classes in 3.5, but I believe I've seen variants in the pathfinder srd. I'll take a peek at it and see if I can't cross reference anything. It is suffice to say that there are some feats that could be replaced for a savage warrior. For instance heavy armour could be taken out and perhaps replaced with tracking. Tower shield could be taken away for perhaps two more skill boosts and a few new class skills.
Anyhow, it's likely what I'd be looking at.

I'm going off the 2ed Savage warrior kit...
It had a limited number of weapons to start, and no armour at all. (Cannot even learn to use armour or suffer extensive negatives)
However gaining a number of secondary skills, and a supernatural ability (Like: alarm, detect magic, detect evil, or animal friendship)

Well Barbarian is just a class, how savage/disciplined your character is, is all up to the RP. you can have a well trained/level headed tactician barbarian, just spin it however you like.

can't believe I didn't think of this before
There are alternate class options presented in Unearthed Arcana that may also prove somewhat useful in this theme. There is the Totem Barbarian, which provides a primal shaman based feel. The Druidic Avenger, a druid without an animal companion that instead has rage. A Savage Bard, for a tribal support class. And I'm sure other sources have further variants that would fit the savage/tribal niche.

seen those.
I seen those, but none of them had the feel I was looking for, so I made a new class (with the extensive help of others here at the RDI)
I'm now looking at the shaman, and wizard options, but I think some of the preexisting classes would work with only a little RP, rather than a new class.
