That is a freaking cool idea.  No way I can do it when my wife is home, though... she would skin me.

Neat idea!

I've watched an episode or two with audio descriptions turned on on Netflix but, for whatever reason, it never really occurred to me that it would be "useful" as a tool to improve DM/GMing.

I will look into this

Could be interesting. Do Porn films have this function? Asking for a friend. Several actually...

Interesting thing I have been told since I started tabletop gaming with a group again. Apparently DM's nowadays do not do lengthy descriptions and write up of "Continuing where we last left off". Apparently it is considered the players responsibility to keep track of past events. it is also rare for Dm's to build lengthy adventures on their own and string the party members personal history into the game. I frequently get asked - what module is this? and when I say my own, they are shocked. "You did it all on your own?"

At least that is what I am told. I have not sat down to join a game as a player yet.

Egad.  Why would it not be the responsibility of the storyteller to keep the story straight?

Why is it so alien to make your own story - especially one that features the players as the protaginists in a long arc?

Oi.

time

I am just going on what I have been told by my group. Some DM just buy modules form DM Guild and run them back to back to back.

Meanwhile, My Bard just discovered her father is working for Amerlocc, the Fighter discovered he is going to be a dad - the mom is a night hag (but she didn't look that way at the time),The Half Orc Barbarian found out her other half is probably not human, the cleric recieved a vision from Lysora and the Rogue is being courted by Death herself.

Good times. Never thought I would be gaming every other week at this age.

I have difficulty gaming with people who don't take it "seriously." And I agree. Why wouldn't you want an on-going campaign with a full-fledged storyline? I swear it's the video game influence in youngsters.

Sheesh. Gee-whiz! And all that other stuff.

I currently have a game that I run with my kids. I have all but one child who is interested in gaming and one of my sons' girlfriend plays as well. Seeing how they are in Utah, Idaho, and Connecticut I use Roll20.net. What I've found is that I'm out of practice as a tabletop GM. Giving descriptions is more difficult than it used to be, jumping in and out of NPC skins is challenging, and even the storyline has become troublesome.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

I love audio 'scripts, I wanna start using them more. I feel another useful bit of advice for mantaining story consistency is to create moodboards. I use them for my characters and my stories: it's just a collage of images that can really inspire you (visually speaking). Having tangible references really helps me when picturing characters and scenes--I use them a lot in my novel writing and from a player perspective, they help me describe my character consistently as well

Link to one that I made for my DnD character for the game Oz is now DMing

Visuals are certainly something that assist the less imaginative. I would often draw scenes of what they would face.
