venting anger

This is insanity! I was browsing Amazon.com for cool books, and I find a bunch of them that I would like to order. Now I've done this in the past and it is a great way of finding out of print d&d material. But this time, apparently, it wasn't. For I found a nice little paperback novel for $5 something, and the shipping cost are $12,80!!!! That is crazy.
And I can't order several books at once, since I use the marketplace option. So if I want multiple books, I have to pay 12,80 multiple times.

Since when are oversea shipping rates so extremely crazy? I'm not going to pay more than double the cost of a book to have it sent over the atlantic ocean!

And if I look on similar sites that are closer by, the costs of the books are tripled or more! Crazy!!!

Pfffffffffft.... venting is good.

Why those nickel and diming, so-and-so's!

It truly is rediculous that shipping can be double and triple the cost of the actual item you're ordering... buncha money-grubbin'....

Anyhoo... I was gonna suggest the same thing as Grugg... have the things sent to one of us here on this side of the pond and, I'm sure, someone'd be perfectly happy to send them your way.

Well

I'd have to look it up, but I could definately do it for you if it's needed.

Unless it's something ridiculous of course.

Well...

...if it's too rediculous we could always pool the shipping money, buy airline tickets to the netherlands, and deliver them in person (plus we get the groovy vacation in the deal, too).

Now.... where's my passport?

Edit: If you thought "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" was funny, wait til you see "Grugg and Eol Go to Amsterdam"

hah

Harold and Kumar Rock!! And they do go to Amsterdam, actually... though I think Eol and Grugg would do a better job of creating chaos and destruction.

Seriously though, if the shipping and handling is cheaper than 12,80 in US dollars, I might actually consider it. And with cheaper I don't mean 'yeah, man, here it is 12,50!', hehe.

Oh, wait... bah... I wouldn't even know how to repay you guys for that shipping and handling thing... hmmmm. It's not that easy.

Did you see that? I went from to to in one post... that's too much emotion for me to handle... I'm going to lay down.

Yet another version ...

I just recently tried to order 3 CDs from Microsoft for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3). On check out, I noticed that the postage/shipping for the 3 cdroms was $18.00. Plus $12.00 ($4 per disk) and $5.000 tax (?) brought the grand total to $37.00!

I thought, "WTF, over? 18 buck to sheip from Washington (state) to Arizona. Even for Air Mail (the default method for Microsoft), that's pretty bad. And it's supposed to take 3 weeks to get that far, even by Air Mail?"

So I back-tracked and ordered only 1 CD and went through the process again. Turns out that they are charging a $5.00 flat tax rate for each order and $6.00 PER DISK for shipping, even though all three CDs would be shipped in the same envelope. I know. I ordered two CDs with SP2 on them and they came in the same envelope. I got THOSE disks free and the postage was only $2.39 for standard rate shipping fot the both of them.

I didn't order the disks ...
